Mastercard recently published the results of a small business cybersecurity survey. The results are troubling.
Apparently, just 16 percent of Canadian small businesses feel certain that they know how to handle a cyber attack.
According to the survey, cybercrime has become one of the most lucrative criminal activities worldwide, fueled by the rapid growth of e-commerce and digital transactions. And small businesses are especially vulnerable to emerging cyber threats. In addition to only 16 percent feeling certain that they could handle a cyber attack, only 18 percent are totally confident that their business would recover fully from an attack in the next six months. Add to those statistics the fact that 57 percent report not receiving any form of cybersecurity training, and you can immediately see a huge problem.
If you haven’t already started taking measures to deal with this growing problem, now would be a good time to start. You have research to do and should consider outside help.
