RGCS of Edinburgh’s latest newsletter has a useful tip if you’re a Windows user.

“Trying to find and insert particular symbols or special characters into something like a Word document can often be awkward and time-consuming, but Windows provides a quick-access character map for these symbols and characters to streamline this process. Here’s how to find and use it . . .

> Search for Character Map in the Start menu and open it.

> Browse or search for the symbol or character you need.

> Select the character, click COPY, then paste it into your document or application.

It works. I’ve tested it.
